Rental Terms
Last updated October 28, 2026
These are the terms on which The Síbín hires out its pubs. They form part of your booking, together with your quote and the hire agreement you sign. Please read them before you confirm. If anything here doesn't suit your event, talk to us — a lot of it can be adjusted in advance, and none of it is meant to catch you out.
Part A — Every booking
A1. Definitions and how the documents fit together
- "We", "us", "our" means The Síbín, of Plymouth, MA, 02360. "You" means the person or organisation making the booking.
- "The Pub" means the unit you've hired — The Síbín, The Aer or The Paddy Wagon — with its equipment and any add-ons.
- "The Hire Period" means the 24 hours your booking covers, unless your quote says otherwise. "Service hours" means the hours drinks are served to guests; setting up and packing down happen outside them.
- "Your contact" means the person you name to make decisions on the day. They need to be on site, reachable by phone and 21 or over.
- Your booking is made up of your hire agreement, your quote and these terms, plus any written addendum. If they disagree, the order of priority is: addendum, then hire agreement, then quote, then these terms.
A2. Booking and paying
- Your date is held only once you've signed the hire agreement and we've received your deposit. Until then another customer can book it.
- The deposit is 25% of the total unless your quote says otherwise, and it's due within 7 days of signing. If it isn't paid by then, the date is released.
- The balance is due by the date on your quote and agreement. That's normally the day before your event. For bookings made within that window, everything is due on booking.
- You can pay online by card or bank transfer through our secure payment page. We can also take a cheque, or Venmo if we've agreed it with you. We never ask for card details by email or phone.
- If a payment fails or is late, we'll tell you in writing and give you 2 business days to pay. After that we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and the cancellation amount in A4 for that date applies.
- Your quote shows the full price, including travel and any compulsory charges. Anything added later — extra hours, extra staff, add-ons — is agreed with you first.
- We may ask for a refundable damage deposit. If we do, the quote says so, and we return it within 14 days of collection once the Pub has been checked.
A3. Changes you can make
- Guest numbers: please confirm your final guest count 7 days before. If more guests come than you told us, we may need to add bartenders (B2) or limit how many people are in the Pub at once (C2). We'll charge for extra staff only if you agree on the day.
- Add-ons can be added up to 7 days before, as long as we have them available. Later requests are welcome, but we can't promise them.
- Moving your date: you can move your booking once, free the first time, to a date within 12 months of the original, subject to availability. What you've paid carries over. The price may change if the new date has a different rate (for example, a weekend instead of midweek).
- Any change to the booking needs to be in writing. An email from you, with our reply confirming it, is enough.
A4. If you cancel
Please cancel in writing — email is fine. A phone call alone doesn't count. The amount you owe depends on how far ahead you cancel:
- More than 60 days before the event: you lose the deposit only.
- 28 to 60 days: 50% of the total.
- Fewer than 28 days: 100% of the total, less any bartending or travel charges we haven't yet incurred.
These amounts are our honest estimate of what a late cancellation costs us. We turn other enquiries away for your date, we plan staff and stock around you, and late dates rarely rebook. They're not meant as a penalty. If you owe more than you've already paid, it's due within 14 days of cancelling. And before you cancel, ask us about moving the date instead (A3) — we'd always rather do that.
A5. Delivery, setup and collection
- We'll agree an arrival time with you. Setup normally takes 30 to 90 minutes depending on the Pub, and it happens before service hours begin.
- At least 7 days before, please send us photos of the spot, the route in and the power outlet. We use them to make sure the site works. If we can see a problem, we'll tell you while there's still time to fix it.
- If we arrive and the site isn't ready — blocked access, no power, cars in the way — we'll wait. The first 30 minutes are free. After that we charge standby at $75 an hour. The booking is treated as cancelled by you only if setup turns out to be impossible or unsafe.
- At collection, the Pub must be empty of your belongings and reachable at the agreed time. If it isn't, standby applies. If we can't collect at all, a further day's hire may be charged.
- On commercial, public or venue sites we collect on the same day unless agreed otherwise. On private property the Pub can stay for the Hire Period.
- Parking, tolls, ferries and any permit fees for our vehicles at your site are added to your quote at cost, where we know of them in advance.
- Only our team moves, connects or disconnects the Pub.
A6. The site, permissions and the neighbours
- You're responsible for permission to have the Pub where it's going — from the landowner, venue, park, HOA, town or base. We'll assume you have it. If a permit is refused, or permission is withdrawn, that counts as a cancellation by you, not by us.
- Tell us before the day about anything underground — irrigation, cables, septic, gas or water lines. Where we need to stake into the ground we'll arrange a Dig Safe check, which needs about 72 business hours. For shorter notice we use weights instead.
- A trailer, stakes, weights and foot traffic leave marks. We take reasonable care, but we aren't liable for ordinary wear to lawns, driveways or paving from setting up, siting or collecting the Pub.
- Music and noise follow your venue's rules and your town's by-laws. If a curfew applies, please tell us so we can plan last call around it.
- Each Pub's own needs — space, access and power — are set out in Part C and on your quote.
A7. Weather
- We watch the forecast from a week out. If it looks doubtful, we'll talk to you early. By noon the day before we'll tell you if conditions are expected to break our limits.
- Our limits are: thunder or lightning; hail, snow or ice that makes the site or the roads unsafe; and, for The Aer, winds above 15 mph sustained or 20 mph gusts (C2). The Síbín and the Paddy Wagon have no wind limit, but we won't tow, or keep the Pub open, in conditions that make it unsafe.
- The decision rests with us, on safety grounds, and it's final. It can't be overridden, even by signing a waiver.
- If we call it off, or have to close early, you choose: a new date within 12 months, or a refund of the hire fee for the time lost.
- If you cancel because of weather that doesn't reach our limits, the normal cancellation terms in A4 apply. Rain alone isn't a reason to cancel — The Síbín is a proper roof over your guests' heads.
A8. Things neither of us can control
Sometimes something outside anyone's control gets in the way. Neither of us is in breach when that happens, as long as we tell each other as soon as we know and do what we reasonably can to work around it. By "outside anyone's control" we mean things like:
- Acts of God and severe weather: hurricanes, nor'easters, blizzards, floods, lightning storms, high winds and similar.
- Travel and roads: road, bridge or tunnel closures — including the Cape Cod Canal bridges — serious accidents, police incidents, cancelled ferries, and travel bans or emergency driving restrictions.
- Our vehicles and equipment: a breakdown, accident or damage on the way to you, or damage to the Pub at an earlier event, where we couldn't reasonably have prevented it.
- People: sudden serious illness, injury or bereavement in our team, when we can't find suitable cover.
- Public authorities: government or public-health orders, pandemics and epidemics, and states of emergency. Also a base, installation or venue closing or refusing access for security reasons, which can include a lockdown or raised threat level.
- Infrastructure: fire, explosion, a widespread power or utility failure, and a regional shortage of something we can't run without (for example CO2 for the taps).
When that happens:
- If it stops the event entirely, we'll offer a new date within 12 months, or another Pub from the fleet if that helps. If neither works, we'll refund what you've paid. Neither of us owes the other anything more.
- If it delays us, we'll keep you updated and extend service where the site and staff allow. If it shortens service, we'll refund the hire for the time lost.
- If it stops part of the service — say the taps can't run but the bottle bar can — we'll agree a fair price adjustment with you.
This section doesn't cover a change of plans, lower numbers than expected, or a forecast that doesn't reach our weather limits.
A9. If we have to cancel or change something
- If we cancel for a reason within our control, we refund everything you've paid, in full. That refund is the limit of what we owe you.
- If your Pub becomes unavailable, we may offer an equivalent unit from the fleet. If the alternative is materially different — for example The Aer instead of The Síbín — you choose: take it at its own price, or cancel for a full refund.
- If something breaks during the hire, we'll try to fix it first, then replace it, then refund that part of the hire fairly.
- We pick the staff for your event. We may use trained bartenders who work with us regularly, as well as our own team.
A10. During the hire
- The Pub is in your care from setup until we collect it. Please look after it.
- No smoking, vaping, naked flames, fireworks, sparklers, cooking equipment or heaters (other than ours) inside or against any Pub.
- No climbing on, sitting on or hanging anything from the Pub. Nothing may be nailed, taped, screwed, stapled or glued to any surface. Decorations are welcome, as long as they're freestanding or put up with our help.
- No weapons in, at or behind the Pub, other than any carried by on-duty police or security. Illegal drugs, and anyone using or carrying them, end the hire straight away.
- Keep within the Pub's stated capacity (Part C). It's there for safety. We may pause entry if it's exceeded.
- Tell us straight away if anything is damaged, anything stops working, or anyone is hurt.
- We may end the hire early — stop service, close the Pub and pack it up — if conduct, capacity, weather or anything else has made it unsafe, or if these terms are being seriously broken. That decision is final, and no refund is due.
A11. Looking after our team
- Our staff are there to look after your guests, and we ask the same in return.
- If anyone at the event harasses, threatens or inappropriately touches a member of our team, we'll tell your contact, who needs to deal with it promptly — usually by asking the guest to leave.
- If it carries on, or straight away in a serious case, our staff may stop service, close the Pub and leave. No refund is due, and you agree not to hold us responsible for the service left undone.
- For services of more than 5 hours, please give our staff a short break and, if there's catering, a meal.
- We'll need parking for our tow vehicle and one staff car, and access to a restroom.
- For our part, our staff will be professional, presentable and sober on shift, and won't be on personal social media while serving.
A12. Trash, recycling, empties and clean-down
- Bins: you or your venue provide trash and recycling bins for the event, or you can add our haul-away service.
- During service our staff keep the bar area tidy.
- At the end they bag the bar's trash, separate the recycling and follow any recycling rules your venue has. They leave the bags at a spot on site that you choose.
- Taking trash away: removing those bags, and all other trash from the event, is your or your venue's job. The exception is if you've added our haul-away service ($100), in which case we take the bar's bagged trash with us. We don't take food waste or general event trash.
- Empties and leftover alcohol belong to you in a dry hire or bartending booking — including bottle-deposit cans and bottles, and the deposits on them. We'll box them up for you, but we don't take alcohol or empties away. Under a licensed bar service (B3), we remove our own alcohol and empties.
- Kegs you supplied stay with you to return to your retailer. For deposit kegs, the deposit is yours to reclaim.
- Ice melt and wash water: please show us where we can empty these — a sink, a sanitary drain or a spot of open ground away from people. Never a storm drain.
- Leaving the Pub: it should be left empty of your belongings and rubbish. Normal bar clean-down is included in your price.
- Extra cleaning is charged at $75 to $300 depending on the work. That covers mess beyond normal clean-down: vomit, mud trodden through, drinks soaked into The Aer's floor, rubbish left inside, or anything stuck to a surface. We'll send photos and an itemised note first.
- Smoking or vaping inside a Pub is charged $300 for odour treatment.
A13. Damage and loss
- Condition photos: we photograph the Pub at setup and at collection. These photos are for damage records only, so we always take them, even if you've asked for no marketing photos (A14). If your contact can be there to see the Pub's condition with us at setup, so much the better.
- Your responsibility: you're responsible for loss or damage to the Pub and its equipment during the Hire Period, beyond fair wear and tear, except to the extent we caused it.
- Glassware and small items that are lost or broken are charged at replacement cost.
- Reporting: please report any damage to us within 24 hours. If we find damage after collection, we'll tell you within 3 business days, with photos.
- Repair costs: where repairs cost more than any damage deposit, we'll invoice the difference with evidence of the cost.
- Lost property: anything left behind is kept for 30 days, then disposed of. We aren't responsible for personal property, gifts or décor belonging to you, your guests or other vendors.
A14. Photos, video and social media
- Our photos of the Pub: we like to photograph the Pub and the setup at your event for our website and social media. Guests may appear in the background of these.
- Guests in our advertising: we never feature an identifiable guest in our advertising — website, social posts, paid ads or Google listing — without that person's own written consent. For anyone under 18, that consent comes from a parent or guardian. We don't post identifiable children at all.
- Opting out: if you'd rather we took no photos, tick "no photos" on your booking, or tell us in writing up to 48 hours before. We'll take none, apart from the condition photos in A13.
- Names and logos: we won't name, tag, or show the logo of your company, venue, town, school or military unit without your written OK.
- Military bases: on a military installation we take no photos or video, and fly no drone, without written approval from the host. We follow the installation's photography rules, and we turn off location tagging.
- Drones: we fly one only with your agreement, the venue's permission and a licensed pilot.
- Takedowns: if you or a guest asks us to take a post down, we'll do it within 5 business days.
- Your photos: you and your guests are welcome to photograph the Pub, share the photos and tag us. If you'd like us to reshare yours or your photographer's photos, we'll ask first and credit them.
- Using our name: please ask us before using "The Síbín", "The Aer" or our logo to advertise a public or ticketed event.
- Reviews: nothing in these terms limits your right to review us honestly, anywhere. If something isn't right on the day, please tell your bartender or call us straight away, so we can put it right while it still matters.
A15. Insurance
- Our cover: we carry commercial general liability insurance, liquor liability cover for our staff's service, and commercial auto cover for our vehicles and trailers.
- Certificates: we'll send a certificate of insurance to you or your venue on request, and add your venue or organisation as an additional insured where they require it. Please allow 10 days.
- Your cover: we strongly recommend you carry event insurance, including host liquor liability when alcohol is served.
- When it's required: it's required for public, ticketed or corporate events, for events of more than 150 guests, and for any dry hire where our staff aren't serving (B1). Please send us the certificate 7 days before. Your venue may ask for it anyway.
A16. Our responsibility to you
- We'll provide the Pub and our service with reasonable skill and care, following the manufacturer's instructions for our equipment.
- We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. That means things like lost profit, the cost of other suppliers, or disappointment.
- As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us for the booking.
- We aren't responsible for the goods, services or conduct of your other vendors or your venue.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or anything else Massachusetts law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing in them affects your rights under Massachusetts consumer protection law.
A17. Your responsibility to us
The Pub is at your event, with your guests, and — unless we're serving under our own licence (B3) — serving alcohol you supplied. So you agree to cover The Síbín, its owners and staff, and defend them, against any claim, loss, cost or demand, including a guest's or a neighbour's and reasonable legal costs. That applies to anything arising from:
- your event;
- your guests' conduct;
- alcohol you supplied, or drinks served by anyone other than our staff;
- your breach of these terms;
- any breach of a law, permit or venue rule at your event.
This doesn't apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own negligence. You're also responsible for getting guests home safely. Please plan transport, and never let anyone drive who shouldn't.
A18. Tax
Massachusetts sales or meals tax is added where it applies and shown on your quote. If you're tax-exempt, send us your exemption certificate (Form ST-5, and your ST-2 number if you're a non-profit) before the balance is due. Otherwise tax applies and can't be refunded later.
A19. Government, military and organisation customers
For federal, state, municipal and military customers, this section overrides the rest of these terms wherever they conflict.
- Paying: we invoice against your purchase order or government card. If your rules forbid prepayment, no deposit is needed, but the date is held only once we have a signed purchase order or written order.
- Cancelling: if you cancel, we charge our documented costs plus a fair share for work already done, instead of the scale in A4.
- Indemnity and law: A17 and any limit on your liability don't apply to you where the law that governs you forbids them. That law governs the booking.
- Paperwork: we'll provide a W-9, a certificate of insurance and an additional-insured endorsement, and we'll register in SAM.gov or your vendor portal if asked. Please allow time for this.
- Access rules: please tell us your installation's access, vehicle-inspection, ID and photography rules at least 14 days before.
- Authority to sign: whoever signs for an organisation confirms they're authorised to do so.
A20. General
- Your hire agreement, quote, any addendum and these terms are the whole agreement between us. They replace anything said or written before.
- The version of these terms that applies is the one named in your hire agreement. We keep earlier versions online.
- Changes to a booking need to be in writing; email from both of us counts. If either of us lets something slide once, that doesn't waive it for the future.
- You can't transfer or sub-hire your booking without our written OK.
- No one other than you and us has rights under these terms.
- Notices can be given by email to the addresses on the hire agreement.
- The person signing must be 21 or over.
- Where music is played through our speakers at a public or commercial event, any music licence (ASCAP, BMI and so on) is the organiser's or the venue's responsibility.
- Our pubs have steps and narrow doorways. We're glad to talk about guests with access needs — tell us when you book and we'll work out how best to serve everyone.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If we disagree, let's talk first. If that doesn't settle it, either of us may use small claims court, or the courts of Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Electronic signatures are binding. Signing the hire agreement on a screen, or ticking a box that says you agree, has the same effect as signing in ink.
Part B — The drinks
Your quote says which of these services you've booked. Unless it says Licensed bar service, your booking is a dry hire (B1) or a bartending service (B2), and we do not sell or supply alcohol.
B1. Dry hire — the Pub, your drinks, your people
- The alcohol is yours. You buy it from a licensed retailer, own it, bring it to the event and take it away afterwards. It never travels in our vehicles, and nothing you pay us is for alcohol. Our charges cover the Pub, equipment, labour, mixers and add-ons only.
- No sales: no one may sell alcohol at your event, or charge an admission or donation that is really a charge for drinks, unless they hold the right licence or one-day permit. Getting one is your responsibility. If your event is ticketed, open to the public or anyone pays to attend, tell us when you book.
- The law: you confirm that your venue and town allow alcohol at your event. As host, you're the social host under Massachusetts law, and you're responsible for your guests' drinking and for keeping alcohol away from anyone under 21.
- Who serves: in a dry hire without our bartenders, the people you choose serve the drinks. Please choose sober, responsible adults over 21. We set up the bar, connect the taps and show your servers how everything works before we hand over.
- Kegs: supply cold kegs with the right coupler for the taps — we'll tell you which. A keg needs about 24 hours in the cold to pour well. Only our team changes the gas or adjusts the draught system, unless we've shown your server how.
- Insurance: because our staff aren't serving, our liquor liability cover doesn't apply to drinks your people serve. Event and host liquor liability insurance is required (A15).
B2. Bartending service — your drinks, our bartenders
Everything in B1 about the alcohol being yours still applies. On top of that:
- Our bartenders are trained in responsible alcohol service (TIPS or equivalent). They serve the alcohol you provided, on your behalf.
- Staffing: we staff about one bartender per 50 guests. If your numbers grow, we'll recommend another bartender.
- ID checks: our bartenders ask for ID from anyone who looks under 35, and refuse anyone who can't show they're 21 or over.
- Refusing service: they refuse anyone who appears intoxicated, usually after one warning. They may decline shots, drinking games, or more than two drinks per person at a time. They may stop service entirely if they judge it unsafe. Those decisions are final, and they aren't grounds for a refund.
- Who's behind the bar: only our staff serve from the Pub. Drinks served elsewhere at your event, by anyone else, are your responsibility. Please don't book another bar company to serve from or beside the Pub.
- Last call is 15 minutes before the end of service hours. Staff may close the bar earlier if conduct requires it.
- Extra time: service hours can be extended on the day by agreement with the lead bartender, in 30-minute blocks at the rate on your quote, agreed before the extra time starts.
- Tips: our bartending charge pays for staff time. It isn't a tip, gratuity or service charge, and it isn't paid to bartenders as a tip. Tipping is up to you and your guests. Unless you tell us otherwise before the event, we put out a small tip jar and a tip QR sign. Every cent goes to the staff who served.
- The card reader at the bar is for tips and our own add-ons only. It's never used for drinks.
B3. Licensed bar service — our licence, our drinks
We offer this only once we hold a Massachusetts caterer's licence (G.L. c.138 §12C). Until then, every booking is a dry hire or a bartending service, and this section doesn't apply.
- The alcohol is ours: we buy it from licensed wholesalers, and we serve it under our licence and its conditions. Your quote shows the drinks package or how drinks are charged, with any tax.
- No outside alcohol: no one may bring alcohol to the event, or serve it alongside ours. If we find outside alcohol, our staff may stop service.
- Private events: our licence covers private functions. If your event is open to the public or ticketed, tell us when you book. Some events can't be served under it.
- Police notice: we notify the local police and meet any other licence conditions before your event. The hours of service are limited to what our licence and your town allow.
- No shots, and no drinks served neat or on the rocks. Spirits are served mixed. This is a condition of our licence and insurance, and it can't be changed on the day.
- Serving rules: ID is checked for anyone who looks under 35. No one under 21 is served. We serve no more than two drinks per person at a time, and refuse anyone who appears intoxicated. Drinks stay within the area we serve.
- After the event: leftover alcohol, opened or unopened, stays ours and leaves with us. We can't sell bottles to take away.
- The tips rules in B2 apply.
Part C — The pubs
C1. The Síbín — the trailer pub
- Capacity: seats 16 inside, with more guests at the bar and around it outside.
- The spot: it needs a firm, level spot about the size of a parking space, with room for our truck to back the trailer in. There must be clear access all the way — please tell us about narrow gates, low branches, soft ground or steep driveways when you send photos (A5). Grass, gravel, a driveway or a car park all work. We level the trailer ourselves.
- Power: it needs a standard outdoor outlet within 100 feet that isn't shared with anything heavy. If there's no power, we can quote a generator.
- The bar: it has two draught lines with keg setup and gas, bottle and wine coolers, a sink and a heater.
- Inside: please keep drinks off the décor and artefacts, and leave the fittings where they are.
- Overnight: on private property the Pub can stay for the Hire Period. Please lock it when it isn't in use — we'll show your contact how.
- Access: there are steps up into the trailer. We can serve from the doorway to guests who can't manage them.
C2. The Aer — the inflatable pub
The Aer is an air-inflated structure. It stays up only while its blower runs, and it can move, sag or deflate. These rules are there to keep everyone safe inside it.
- Size and capacity: The Aer is a Matt Molloy Mini inflatable pub — about 4 m (13 ft) square and 4 m tall. It needs a level footprint of about 5 m by 5 m once the guy lines are in, and it holds up to 30 people at once (25 if they're seated). Grass, a driveway or a car park suit it. Sand, steep slopes and anywhere under low branches or power lines don't.
- Anchoring: we set it up and anchor it to the manufacturer's instructions — stakes on grass, weights on hard ground. It's never tied to vehicles or fences.
- Power: the blower needs its own outlet within 100 feet, on a circuit nothing else is plugged into, for the whole time The Aer is up. Fridges, heaters or kegerators on the same circuit can trip it. If there's no suitable power, we can quote a generator.
- A named supervisor: you name a supervisor on the booking. That's someone 21 or over and sober, who's present whenever The Aer is up and our staff are not. We brief them at setup, and they sign our short handover checklist.
- Who's in charge: while our staff are serving, they control entry, numbers and evacuation. At all other times your supervisor does.
- If the blower stops or the roof sags: get everyone out first and keep the doorways clear. Then check the breaker and call us. No one goes back in until it's fully re-inflated.
- Setting up and packing away: no one goes inside while it's inflating or deflating.
- Inside The Aer: no smoking or vaping, flames, candles, cooking, heaters other than ones we supply and place, glitter, confetti, silly string, sparklers, face or body paint, pets, stiletto heels, climbing, leaning on the walls, or roughhousing. Glassware stays on the bar table. Mess from any of these is charged under A12 — glitter, confetti, silly string and paint at $150 to $500, depending on the clean-up needed.
- Wind: we won't put The Aer up, and we'll take it down, in winds above 15 mph sustained or 20 mph gusts, or in thunder or lightning, heavy rain or snow (A7). If any of those start during the hire, everyone leaves The Aer straight away. The supervisor switches the blower off, keeping clear of the structure as it settles, and calls us.
- Overnight: we take The Aer down at the end of service, unless your quote says it stays up. If it does stay up, it's closed and unoccupied overnight, your supervisor stays reachable, and the wind rules still apply.
- Permits: some towns treat an inflatable as a temporary structure that needs a permit. Where your town or venue asks for one, we'll provide the manufacturer's specifications and fire-retardancy information, and our insurance certificate, to support your application.
C3. The Paddy Wagon — the three-wheeler bar
- How it arrives: the Paddy Wagon is a vehicle, and it's driven to your event by our team only. No one else moves it, sits on it or drives it.
- The spot: it needs a firm, level spot it can drive onto — no soft lawns after rain — and a standard outdoor outlet within 100 feet, or a generator we quote.
- The rules: it's a bar, not a ride or a photo prop to climb on. Photos beside it are very welcome.
- Everything else in Part A, and the Part B section for your service, applies.
